Saugeen Shores Police need your help to find a man missing since Wednesday. Thirty-five-year-old Sam is described as about six-foot-three, weighing 260 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen driving a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact police.
Statistics Canada is set to release its latest Labour Force Survey for July this morning. A Reuters poll of economists predicts Canada added 15,000 jobs last month after gaining 18,000 in June. The unemployment rate is expected to remain at 6.5 percent.
Additional help continues to arrive in British Columbia as the wildfire season remains extremely volatile. According to the premier, a team of firefighters from Mexico has arrived, with more personnel expected from elsewhere in Canada and around the world.
Almost 20 tickets for illegal fires were handed out over the weekend.
An OPP police cruiser became an unlikely shelter for a mother cat and her six newborn kittens in North Bay. Officers and local animal welfare groups safely rescued the family after finding them inside a vehicle component beneath the cruiser. The cats were taken to the OSPCA, where they're reportedly healthy and receiving care. Officials say the kittens will be available for adoption in the coming months.
In the CFL, the Argonauts beat Calgary 33–30.
In the WNBA, the Toronto Tempo lost to Portland 97–83.
In baseball, the Blue Jays lost 3–2 in 11 innings to Chicago in a makeup game. They begin a weekend road series in Philadelphia tonight at 6:40.
At the National Bank Open, another Canadian was eliminated in women's doubles. Ottawa's Gabriela Dabrowski and her Russian partner were knocked out. Leylah Fernandez teamed up with her sister Bianca, but they also lost their doubles match. In women's singles, Fernandez will face reigning French Open champion Mirra Andreeva.
Meanwhile, Canada's hopes in the men's tournament were hurt by injuries in Montreal. Félix Auger-Aliassime withdrew with a sore back, while Gabriel Diallo and Denis Shapovalov also retired with injuries.
