Welcome back from the Easter weekend. Keep in mind, mostly everything is back open. Government workers get the day off and most banks will be closed. The Grace Sable Conservation Authority issued a watershed conditions statement on the weekend because of the potential for flooding. It's in effect until tomorrow. Well, you may have noticed a lot more police out and about this weekend. OPP increased enforcement efforts with a focus on seatbelt safety. During last year's Easter campaign, OPP in West Region issued 338 charges. we're already being punished over inflated gas prices. Looks like it's going to have an effect on your vacation as well. Experts say soaring fuel prices tied to the American-Israeli war is forcing airlines to adjust operations and pass those costs on to customers. WestJet is planning to introduce a temporary $60 surcharge for certain bookings and consolidated numerous flights to deal with the skyrocketing fuel costs. It's also combined some flights on lower demand routes, reducing the number in April and May. While the number of safety incidents on Canadian runways is on the rise, reaching new highs in recent years, even as the tally of extremely close calls seems to be leveling off. Data from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada shows many runway incursions when a plane or vehicle is near a runway when they shouldn't be. hit a record 639 in the last year they recorded stats, which was 2024. The issue garnered recent attention after Air Canada's plane crashed into a fire truck in LaGuardia last month. And Jeremy Hansen is just days away from being the first Canadian astronaut to circle the moon as part of the Artemis II mission. The astronaut from London is expected to do a lunar flyby on day six of the mission with fellow U.S. astronauts. Before doing so, he had a live question and answer session yesterday. Light 99, three sports, baseball yesterday. The Blue Jays blanked by the White Sox 3-0, losing all three games this weekend. Jays are on the road tonight. They start up a series against the LA Dodgers at 7. In the NBA, the Raptors lost to Boston 115, 101. They host Miami tomorrow, 7.30. NHL last night. Montreal lost to New Jersey, 3-0. Despite the loss, they did manage to clinch a playoff spot. Elsewhere, Ottawa beat Carolina, 6-3. Leafs coming off a weekend overtime loss. Host Washington Wednesday, 7.30.
