City of Meaford wants residents to be careful near Memorial Park over the next day or so. They're removing trees they consider hazardous. They're asking residents and visitors to stay away from the area as crews clean up. Gray Bruce OPP arrested a fourth person in connection to a series of break-ins at homes and businesses in Meaford, Grey Highlands and Southgate. Since August 2025, OPP have investigated multiple property crimes and say they recently found a quantity of suspected stolen property at a business in Dundalk. On Tuesday, OPP arrested 25-year-old Robert Plant. He was released from custody and is due back in Owen Sound Court next month. OPP in Wellington County investigating after a dog died its owner seriously injured in a collision. Police were called to a report a pedestrian and dog struck by a tractor trailer while they tried to cross Highway 6 in Arthur at about noon yesterday. Anyone with information is asked to contact police. A man who admitted his role in a mass of gold and cash heist from Pearson Airport has been sentenced to four years in prison. Court documents show the 44-year-old was sentenced on Wednesday and given 40 years to pay back $22 million. Multiple suspects have already been arrested. It's considered the largest gold heist in Canadian history. Two others are still at large, including a former Air Canada employee. And South Bruce OPP holding a youth police academy, the six-week program designed for high school students grades 10 to 12 who live in southern Bruce County and want to learn more about policing. It happens at the Kincardin detachment every Wednesday evening starting April 22nd, but the deadline to apply is today. Light 99-3 sports. NHL last night. Leafs lost to the Islanders 5-3. Elsewhere, Ottawa beat Florida. Montreal doubled Tampa Bay. Winnipeg beat St. Louis, but Calgary and Vancouver both lost. Leafs host Florida tomorrow at 7. OHL playoffs. Barry beat Ottawa 4-2 to take a 1-0 series lead in their conference semi-finals. In the NBA yesterday, the Raptors beat Miami 128-114. They're back on the court tonight. A Rd. game against the Knicks. at 7.30. They're also back to work again Sunday. They host the Nets at 6.
