It's Friday, February 27th. Good morning. A few flurries this morning, then sunshine windy and a high of four this afternoon. The dollar still trading over 73 cents, 73.11 cents U.S. I'm Stacey Englehart. A Lindsay man accused of assaulting a home intruder last August has had his charges withdrawn. The Crown said after reviewing the circumstances of the case and requirements for self-defense under the criminal code, there is no longer a reasonable prospect of conviction, leading some critics to argue how this case made it to the courts in the 1st place. Premier Ford spoke out yesterday after the case was dropped and said people who break into somebody else's home need to pay the price, adding people will fight to protect their home and their families. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the U.S. is holding an Edmonton-born Canadian in what his fiancee says are harsh conditions. Curtis Wright has been living in the U.S. for about 30 years, but was stopped at the Houston airport over a high school drug conviction. The 39-year-old is trying to fight his detention as self-deporting back to Canada could jeopardize the shared custody of his two kids. StatsCan set to report this morning on how the economy closed out in 2025. A Reuters poll of economists expects real gross domestic product was flat. And on the coldest night of the year, Straw Hat Renovations and Pilkington Trust and Building Supply will introduce a practical response to one of the region's most pressing issues, winter homelessness. An insulated wooden hut designed as a better than a tent emergency shelter will be available for public tours tomorrow at Owen Sound City Hall, coinciding with events for the coldest night of the year.
