While a large portion of Southern Ontario is under a weather alert, we're under snowfall warnings. Owen Sound, Blue Mountains, Northern Grey County affected. Environment Canada predicting upwards of 15 centimeter With poor visibility in heavy snow, roads and walkways will be slippery. Police in Barrie said they'd have a significant police presence over the weekend after a child was found dead on New Year's Eve. Police made the discovery after officers were called for a well-being check Wednesday. The child's mother was also found in the home and taken to hospital where she remains. Police said there's no threat to public safety. Greg Bruce OPP have charged an individual after a series of incidents New Year's Eve led to an arrest in Greg Bruce. Police said they were called by a homeowner who discovered somebody had been in their garage and damaged a vehicle cover. When officers arrived, they got a second call that a cargo van was stolen from a nearby home. A 50-year-old of no fixed address was charged. the new year means several new laws coming into effect, including the mandatory installation of carbon monoxide detectors on every floor of the home, and job postings in the province have to disclose pay ranges, ending the practice of asking applicants to apply before even knowing how much they're going to make. Light 99-3 sports. Canada's medal at this year's World Junior Hockey Championship will not be gold. They went unbeaten in four round robin games in the quarterfinals, but Canada's under-20 men's team lost to Czechia 6-4 in the semi-finals. So Canada will play Finland for bronze this afternoon, 4.30. The gold medal game between Czechia and Sweden starts at 8.30 this morning. NFL winners yesterday included Pittsburgh, Denver, Atlanta, Cleveland, the Giants, Minnesota, Houston, Jacksonville, the Rams, Detroit, New England, Buffalo, Washington, Las Vegas, marking the end of the regular season. NBA tonight, the Raptors host Atlanta, 7.30, and the Leafs coming off an overtime loss this weekend, host Florida tomorrow, 7.30. Austin Matthews, meanwhile, set a new record for the team with 421 goals, beating Matt Sundin's record of 420 with the franchise. What's even crazier, Matthews did it in 664 games. Sundin needed 981.
