It's Monday, March 16th. Good morning. Welcome back from the weekend. We start out with rain. We end up with flurries, strong winds and the temperature only getting colder falling to 1 this afternoon. The dollar hovering just over 73 cents. I'm Stacey Englehart. it is day one of March break in a large portion of the province under some sort of weather advisory. Now we're under an orange snow squall watch resulting in hazardous travel tonight into tomorrow. We could get pummeled with upwards of 40 centimeters, highest accumulations expected east of Lake Huron. Now snow squalls off of Georgian Bay in Lake Huron will be accompanied by really strong winds gusting upwards of 90 kilometers. Hazardous travel conditions are expected to into tomorrow. Boil water advisory has been issued for the city of Owen Sound, according to Grey Bruce Public Health. It's precautionary because the water's been quite cloudy. While the current water meets all quality and testing standards, it is just a precautionary boil order. You're being asked to boil the water for at least a minute before drinking it, making ice cubes, washing fruits, vegetables, or even brushing your teeth. if you don't like knowing how much our tax dollars are being wasted, you'll love this one. It's being called modernization, but on Friday, the Ontario government introduced legislation to keep documents from the premier and his cabinet ministers a secret. Well, fresh inflation data expected out today from StatsCan, a Reuters poll predicted the annual inflation rate to 1.9 from 2.3. Inflation data will be a factor in the Bank of Canada's next interest rate decision on Wednesday. The central bank has held its key rate at 2.25% last month. Light 99-3 sports. NHL last night. Leafs beat Minnesota 4-2. Edmonton beat Nashville 3-1. Winnipeg edged St. Louis 3-2. Ottawa beat the Sharks. Montreal lost to the Ducks. Leafs host the Islanders tomorrow at 7. PWHL Toronto blank Seattle 2-0 in the OHL. Barry edged Oshawa 6-5 in overtime. NBA last night. The Raptors beat Detroit 119-108. They're in Chicago Wednesday at 8. Baseball preseason. The Jays lost to the Mets 8-1. They face Miami this afternoon. World Baseball Classic Canada was eliminated this weekend. The U.S. beat the Dominican Republic in the semi-final. In the other semi tonight, Italy plays Venezuela at 8. And with the Paralympics in Italy wrapping up this weekend, Canada's Para ice hockey team settled for silver, losing to the U.S. yesterday.
