Good Friday gives us a stat on Friday. Easter Sunday comes up this weekend. Tragedy on the ice this weekend. Police say an Ontario snowmobiler has died when he lost control of his vehicle while riding on the ice on Georgian Bay. Provincial police were called yesterday to the southern tip of Beausoleil Island, where a 62-year-old was thrown onto the ice and had to be taken to hospital. OPP, meanwhile, say firefighters rescued 2 people riding on a snowmobile when it went through the ice on Georgian Bay. Riders were several 100 meters offshore near Tate Township when they broke through Friday night. Riders were wearing survival flotation suits at the time, which police say helped with their rescue. Police are advising everybody to stay off the ice. OPP say a man has died in a two-car collision in Brockton Saturday morning. Police say the 27-year-old died in hospital. Three others were hospitalized with minor injuries. OPP asking witnesses or those with dash cam footage of the incident on Bruce Road 3 to come forward. Ontario's Premier said to travel to Texas this week to expand provincial trade. Ford will be in Dallas, Houston and Austin to meet with automotive partners and government reps. And the Juno's were held last night, Canada's version of the Grammys. Rush opened the ceremony with her first performance at an award show since 1978. They had their new drummer, Annika Nills, filling in for Neil Peart. He passed away in 2020. Last night's show also saw Joni Mitchell join a tribute to Big Yellow Taxi after accepting a lifetime achievement award from the Prime Minister. And Drake suspended his years-long feud with the Juno's to pay tribute to Nelly Furtado, who was inducted into the Canadian Hall of Fame. Light 99-3 sports, the Raptors made NBA history yesterday. Not only did they beat Orlando 139-87, they held the visitors scoreless for 7 minutes 48 seconds. That was the largest unanswered scoring run by a team in the 30 seasons of the NBA. NHL last night, Montreal beat Carolina 3-1. Leafs coming off a loss to St. Louis this weekend back on the ice tonight in Anaheim at 10. PWHL last night, Toronto lost to Vancouver 3-1. Blue Jays As baseball debuted this weekend, what a way to start. They won all three games yesterday, a 5-2 victory over the Athletics. Jay's back to work tonight. They start up a home series against the Rockies at 7. And OHL playoffs, Owen Sound hosts Flint at 7. They trail the series by two games.
