It's Thursday, April 16th. Good morning, showers, risk of a thunderstorm, but a warm high of 20 this afternoon. The dollar 72.84 cents U.S. I'm Stacey Englehart. While most of southern Ontario once again under some sort of weather notice, Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Owen Sound, Blue Mountains, northern Grey County. Continued rain is expected this morning. A man accused of breaking into a Lindsay apartment last year in a case that became a political flashpoint over Canadian rights to defend their homes has admitted guilt. Michael Kyle Breen pleaded guilty to breaking and entering and failing to comply with a probation order from last year. The case attracted significant attention after police also arrested the homeowner who confronted the intruder. Premier Ford blasted the decision to charge the man. Numbers provided by the Ford government suggest less than half of high school students are meeting the province's attendance targets. Numbers show only about 40% of secondary students met the 90% threshold. The government is pursuing legislation to make attendance count for up to 15% of final grades for secondary students. Grade 12 students, that number drops to 33%. Premier Ford and the Solicitor General have vowed to figure out how the province's jails improperly released more than 100 inmates over the past few years. Government documents were unearthed under the Freedom of Information laws that showed the province mistakenly released 157 inmates between 2021 and 2025. The majority of errors were made at the jails and in court. And visitors to Ontario Provincial Parks will be able to drink alcohol in more areas starting in the summer. The new rules will allow for adults 19 and over to drink beyond their individual campsites, including picnic areas, beaches, and other day use areas. Light 99-3 sports.
