As we wind down to the last day or two of school. Venezuela under a state of emergency after two strong earthquakes struck within a minute of each other. Officials say the magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 quakes damaged buildings, disrupted services, and forced people into the streets. The country's main airport near Caracas has been closed, while schools, subway service, and parts of the natural gas network are shut down. Authorities report injuries and trapped residents. Meaford Council has given the go-ahead to a zoning amendment request submitted by the owners of the former Georgian-based secondary school property who planned to turn the facility into a private college. The former school property was purchased in 2023. The proposal has been a cause for debate, especially among those who live near the property. Meaford's council chamber had an overflowing gallery after a number of residents attended a planned public meeting in May. The quintet faced a string of severe criminal charges after provincial police discovered a man was bound and beaten.
