It's Thursday, March 12th. Good morning. Flurries today, windy and cold, minus 2, feeling minus 12, but looks like we're getting a little bit more snow. The dollar 73.58 cents U.S. I'm Stacey Englehart. Well, we have enjoyed some spring-like temperatures lately. By the way, the first day of spring arrives next Friday. We still have some winter weather on the way, according to the Weather Network. From tomorrow into Saturday, up to 20 centimeters as possible. JD will have the forecast throughout the morning. Ontario's Premier said elementary school teachers will be getting a bit of money so they don't have to pay out of pocket for their own class supplies. Starting next year, they'll be receiving purchasing cards worth $750. The province said they're setting up a website through which teachers can make their purchases and materials to be delivered to their schools. As the war intensifies, causing oil prices to flip-flop and gas prices to drop this morning, Canada will do its part to lower the cost of oil globally. Comments from the Natural Resources Minister came after an intergovernmental organization representing dozens of countries announced it would release 400 million barrels of oil from member nation stockpiles. Hodgkin said Canada will support those efforts, but didn't say what form it would take. Canada does not maintain a strategic oil reserve. And new rules kick in today, capping NSF fees at $10 for personal deposit accounts. A new cap limits fees banks can charge customers who don't have enough money in their account to cover a check. It also prohibits banks from charging more than one NSF fee and two business days for the same account. And if there's a shortfall of under $10, they are not allowed to charged the fee. The new cap is expected to save Canadians more than $600 million a year. Light 99-3 sports, World Baseball Classic, Canada advanced to the playoff round for the first time in the international tournament's 20-year history after a 7-2 win over Cuba. Canada will play the U.S. in the quarterfinals tomorrow after Italy beat Mexico. Only 2 games last night in the NHL. Montreal beat Ottawa 3-2 was Philly over Washington. Leafs host Anaheim tonight at 7. The Raptors lost to New Orleans, 122-111. They host Phoenix tomorrow, 7.30. Baseball, spring training. Blue Jays lost to the Yankees, 8-1.
