It's Friday, May 1st. Good morning. Mostly cloudy today, a bit warmer than yesterday. The dollar trading 73.64 cents U.S. I'm Stacey Englehart. Well, welcome to the weekend. Welcome to the beginning of the month. It's also a full moon called the Flower Moon, which is pretty much self-explanatory for this time of the season. Now, this is the first of two full moons this month. The second one at the end of May will be a rare blue moon. West Gray Police need your help to find a vehicle of interest. Police said April 15th at about 3:00 in the morning at Concession 2 in Grey Road 3. A red Dodge Ram was used in a break and enter. Police said about $18,000 in tools and equipment was stolen and they ask anybody who knows anything about the incident to contact West Gray Police or Crime Stoppers. Toronto's Catholic Archbishop is urging Prime Minister Carney to block the planned expansion of assisted dying. Frank Leo is backing a bill that would prevent MAID access for people whose only condition is mental illness. The expansion is set for 2027, with a parliamentary committee now studying whether the country is ready. The debate continues as experts and advocates remain divided on safeguards and ethical concerns. And a local philanthropy group delivered a massive donation to the Canadian Mental Health Association of Grey Bruce. 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce donated almost $40,000 this week. The record-breaking sum raised during a March 28th meeting targets the region's growing homelessness crisis. Over the past year, nearly 500 households across Grey Bruce lacked stable housing. Light 99-3 Sports. Baseball yesterday, the Jays lost to Minnesota 7-1. That weekend Rd. series continues tonight at 8. NHL playoffs round one. For the first time in three years, Edmonton will not see a Stanley Cup final. They've been eliminated, losing to Anaheim 5-2. Elsewhere, Minnesota beat Dallas, eliminating the Stars. Tonight, Montreal hosts Tampa Bay at 7. Montreal leads the series 3-2. Buffalo is in Boston 730, also leading 3-2. Vegas is in Utah tonight with a 3-2 lead. OHL playoffs yesterday. Barry beat Branford 4-3, cutting Branford's lead three games to two. PWHL playoff semi-finals. Ottawa lost to Boston 2-1. NBA playoffs. The Raptors back home tonight for game 6 at 7.30, trailing the series 3-2. And WNBA preseason tonight. Toronto is in Minnesota at 8. JD will keep you posted on the forecast throughout the morning.
