It's Wednesday, January 21st. Snowy and windy again today. Good morning. The dollar trading 72.29 cents U.S. I'm Stacey Englehart. we're not under any weather watches or warnings, but keep in mind the road's still snow covered and really slippery. Now areas just north of Orillia and Penetanguishene are expected to get hit with up to 40 centimeters. Environment Canada calling for about 5 centimeters today in Meadford, possibly another 5 tonight, and snow squalls tomorrow and Friday. JD will keep you posted on the forecast throughout the morning. The Insurance Bureau of Canada said severe weather in the country last year pushed insured losses past $2.4 billion. The Bureau said 2025 is the 10th costliest year on record for weather-related losses. The IBC president and chief executive says weather events surpassing the billion-dollar mark have become the norm, saying things were different 20 years ago when insured damages seldom exceeded $500 million. although some might attribute the increase to an increase in the number of homes in the past 20 years. A Canadian food inspection agency issued a recall on ground beef sold at TNT supermarkets across the province. The national agency said it could contain plastic pieces. The recall is for the TNT supermarket brand products with the best before date of December 17th. Canada's agriculture minister said the first exports of canola seed and beef are set to depart for China soon after a new deal between Ottawa and Beijing. They've already apparently ordered 60,000 metric tons of canola seed and are shipping its first load of Canadian beef. China lifted its ban on Canadian beef imports Monday and removed levies on other products in response to the federal government allowing Chinese EVs into the market. And there was a whole lot of shaking going on at the Ontario-Quebec border. Earthquakes Canada confirmed a small earthquake measuring 2.8 happened yesterday just before 5. The agency said there were no reports of damage and none would be expected. A light 99-3 sports. NHL last night. Montreal beat Minnesota 4-3. Ottawa beat Columbus 4-1. It was Winnipeg over St. Louis. Edmonton lost to New Jersey. The Leafs host Detroit tonight at 7. PWHL Toronto lost to Seattle 6-4. In the NBA, the Raptors beat Golden State 145-127. They're in Sacramento tonight at 10.
